Spirit Day: we came, we saw, the seniors conquered. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, WHS was awash in a sea of school pride – but still, improvements can always be made. Siddharth has a couple of suggestions we’re hoping Student Council will take to heart…
- Competitors should be given extremely clear explanations on how points are tallied.
- Judges should be unbiased and acquired from a third party.
- Where’s the coach’s challenge? Homeroom teachers should be able to throw red flags!
- Double-or-quits/all-or-nothing challenges. Win or go home(room) crying.
- Homeroom rivalries should be established.
- A playoff format should be used to determine the most spirited homeroom:
- Winners advance.
- Losers play other losers in a failure bracket.
- All homerooms must wear jerseys; judges wear referee stripes.
- Student vs. Teacher challenges are also a must. One-on-one, mano-y-mano for real prizes.
- If student wins: homework passes, extra credit, or principal for the day.
- If teacher wins: a day off, someone else grades their assignments for a week, a possible bonus?
- Coordinated and planned victory celebrations are mandatory.
- Push Spirit Day back so that it’s on a full day of school, and give us the Wednesday off!
What more could you ask for before 4 days off? Well, I guess even more vacation would be nice.
