After losing a couple of tough meets against Weston and Lincoln-Sudbury, the girls’ swim team came home with an impressive win at the Bay View Invitational this past weekend. Quite a few of girls qualified for States, including freshman Nehda Kadjendorri and senior Maddy Schwartz in the 50 free. With the win at Bay View, the girls proved that they are a force to be reckoned with and that they would not give up on this season.
The wrestling team has also come to an impressive point in the season. With a close-out against Waltham High School, the team moves to a 12-0 record on the season. In last week’s poll on Masswrestling, the boys ranked 21st in the state. Arguably the most challenging meet of the season came on Wednesday against Lincoln-Sudbury, another front-runner in the DCL. The boys won, beating Lincoln-Sudbury for the first time in six years 36-24.
The previous week was also exciting for both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. On Wednesday evening, both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams faced Weston in the annual Coaches Versus Cancer game in honor of Jim Griffin. At the game, the Wayland Alumni Association donated roster banners for both the boys and girls team that hang next to the scoreboard. The banners say, “In memory of Jim Grffin.”
