News:

Staff reporters Genevieve Morrison and Charlotte Thirman spoke with Wayland High School teachers about the decision to not hold midterms during the 2020-2021 school year. Staff reporter Isabella Ciasullo wrote about December Kindness Month at WHS and the activities that the Student Council held to encourage kindness around the school.

Staff reporter Brasen Chi reported how classes have changed their curriculum due to the new schedule that involves cohorts, and Co-Editor-in-Chief Meredith Prince along with editor Taylor McGuire shared the Winter Week schedule which includes a mandatory viewing of “The Social Dilemma.”

Features:

Staff reporter Sophia Oppenheim discussed the effects of COVID-19 on fundraising for class events with each grade’s Executive Board, and WSPN’s Julia Raymond dove deeper into the Family Promise club’s cleaning supply drive.

WSPN’s Sidney O’Rourke alongside staff reporter Tess Alongi interviewed various WHS students about the hybrid learning experience as a whole.

Sports:

Staff reporter Max Brande and Business and Marketing Manager Jimmy Paugh wrote a Warrior Weekly reflecting on the College Football National Championship Game, and co-editor Sammy Johnson briefed readers on the 2020 Super Bowl Game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

WSPN’s Deirdre Brown published a gallery from the boys swim meet against Bedford and Mystic Valley.

“Due to COVID-19, the meet was swum virtually to ensure the safety of the coaches and swimmers,” Brown said. “The results for the meet have not been calculated, as some teams haven’t yet finished their races.”

A&E:

Staff reporter Bryn Curtin spoke with Wayland High School Theater Ensemble members to find out more about their Winter One-Act performances amidst a pandemic, and editor Alyssa Dickstein progressed her series, “The Good News,” where she publicizes the uplifting news from the past week.

Opinion:

WSPN’s Jonathan Zhang shared his thoughts on midterms and how it’s a miracle WHS will not be giving the exams this year.

“Maybe after such a chaotic year, we can find a better solution to the issue of midterms and start the next school year with a new way of giving out midterms,” Zhang said. “I agree that they’re necessary, but we should find a different time to schedule them, preferably before break or at the end of the first semester rather than a couple weeks after break.”

Broadcast:

WSPN’s Josh Schreiber and staff reporter Michael Nechipurenko commentated the girls basketball game where they won 41-33 against the Weston Wildcats, and Schreiber also commentated the girls basketball game where they lost to Bedford with staff reporter Aditya Weling.

Staff reporters Jacqueline Cahaly, Ellie Smith and Brown recorded their ninth episode of “Healthy Living,” and this week they had a guest, senior Ella L’Esperance. Meanwhile, Zhang and Chi filmed their second episode of “Asians on Air” where they discussed the differences of the Lunar Festival in America vs. China.

WSPN’s Garrett Spooner and Brande published the tenth episode of season 2 of “Sports Junkies.” In this episode, they recapped the NFL Conference Championship Weekend.
