This April break, several students who take French and Latin will be traveling to France and Italy as part of the World Language Department field trips. Students on the France trip departed from Boston Logan Airport left on Monday, April 14, while students on the Latin trip will travel on Thursday, April 17.

On Tuesday April 1, Boston Globe journalist and Boston University professor David Abel answered questions about his award-winning film “Inundation District.” The film delved into the risks of extreme floods the Seaport region of Boston is facing amidst commercial development. Abel was inspired by his climate studies that revealed grave statistics. “I have covered report after report after report with projections about how our seas are likely to rise over the coming decades,” Abel said. “And it would seem, as I would get each new report, that the worst case projections would only get [more] dire. That left me feeling like this was a really significant story that needs to be told in ways that are hard to just tell in print.”

Senior Bianca Crosby-Bernal founded and runs the Lend a Paw club at WHS. “As I got older, I started becoming more interested in animal shelters and volunteering there,” Bernal said. “I realized that so many shelters across the nation are going through mass euthanasias and that was just so heartbreaking to me. I wanted to step in and help anyway I could, so I decided to use resources around me and create a club that could eventually help with this situation.”

With about half of surveyed students visiting Starbucks at least once a week, it’s clear that Wayland is caught in the $7 drink chokehold, but what makes these drinks so desirable? Is the taste alone enough to justify prices over three times the average? Or are there other factors that might influence the drink’s draw?
