Kicks for Cancer: Boys soccer plays for more than just a win

The boys varsity soccer team plays in the Kicks for Cancer tournament, held at Concord-Carlisle High School on Saturday, Sept. 24. The team won the game, beating its opponent, Bedford, with a score of 1-0. Pulling through during the second half of the game, junior Xande Santos scored the only goal. Wayland wore blue, and Bedford wore pink. Every athlete had the name or title of someone in their life who had cancer written on the back of their jersey. “It’s pretty special to win the most important game of the season where we aren’t only playing for ourselves and the team, but we are playing for loved ones that have struggled with cancer,” sophomore Alex Crawford said.
