Window Dance Ensemble to hold auditions

The rescheduled orchestra concert will replace a Tuesday Window show date, stirring disappointment and distress among Dance Ensemble members.

The Window Dance Ensemble will be holding their auditions on Feb. 27 and 28. Window is a dance group composed of about fifteen girls. The ensemble usually is all-girls, but boys are welcome to tryout. They perform all different types of dance, including hip-hop, lyrical and jazz.

The ensemble has a schedule like a spring sport, practicing from 2:30pm-4:30pm after school Monday through Friday.

For auditions, the dancers will need to prepare a 30-60 second solo to show the directors. This year there are a larger number or spots open since many girls graduated last year.

“We have nine [dancers] right now, and we are planning on taking eight more maximum,” senior director Savannah Salitsky said.

The directors put a lot of time into the auditions so they can have the right combination of number and chemistry between dancers.

“In an event like this, fifteen girls is a good number to have,” senior director Juliet Nadeau said.

The directors and the returning members of Window are excited for the new season to start.

“We are really excited to get new members,” Nadeau said. “We can’t wait for another great season, it’s going to be fun just to see what this season brings for us.”

This year, the directors are planning on working hard to come up with new dances that they think their audience will like.

“We are going to make it the biggest and best show we have ever had,” Salitsky said.
