Wayland falls to Bedford in the annual Kicks for Cancer game

Adrenaline and high hopes come into this special game. The starting line up for the Wayland boys team huddles before kick-off to make sure the intensity and excitement levels were high. "Kicks for Cancer is way more than just another game in our season," junior captain Ben Chen said. "It's about sharing stories of strength and representing our loved ones. It hurts to lose in a game that means so much, but I couldn't be more proud of the guys. We got unlucky in some ways, but we fought for the entire 80 minutes and the guys gave it there all. That's all we can ever ask for."
The Wayland Warriors played the Bedford Buccaneers in the annual Kicks for Cancer game on Saturday, Oct. 17. It was a home game for Bedford instead of its usual location at Concord-Carlisle High School. Wayland wore blue jerseys while Bedford wore pink. Bedford scored two goals and ended the game 2-0, with a Wayland loss.
