Green Team increases sustainability with a new composting system
June 11, 2022
Wayland High School’s Green Team begins a composting system during all three lunches on May 31. Student volunteers called “Lunch Leaders” help students throw out their waste in the correct bins and hand out raffle tickets to students who compost for a prize of a reusable Starbucks cup. The Green Team plans to run the system through the end of the school year and aims to extend their composting pilot into the next school year.

"The exterior is still a nice monument to remember buildings [involved in] water history," Hoey said. "We all drink lots of water, and it's such an important resource that we kind of take for granted nowadays."](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/IMG_2024-1200x800.jpg)
