This morning, Feb. 9, the Wayland School Committee sent a memo to Wayland Public School staff that Dr. Omar Easy will be on leave until further notice.

During this period, Assistant Superintendent Parry Graham will be the acting superintendent.

“Dr. Graham will be the acting superintendent until further notice as Dr. Easy is on leave,” the School Committee said. “We recognize that disruptions in leadership can be difficult.”

Lincoln Public Schools hired Graham as superintendent this week. He will begin this role for the 2023-2024 school year. He wrote a memo to Wayland Public Schools families about this transition.

“I was not anticipating being in this position, and did not find out about it until late last night,” Graham said. “I also do not know more details about Dr. Easy’s leave, nor do I know a timeline for more information becoming available.”

The School Committee has not released any further information on this situation at this time.

“We will continue working hard to support our students, families and staff as we move forward together as a school community,” the School Committee said.

This event comes after three announcements of two other administration departures, Happy Hollow Principal Tricia O’Reilly and Wayland Middle School Principal Betsy Gavron.

School Committee denied WSPN’s request for further comment on this issue.

This is a developing story that will be subject to updates.
