WPS’s annual Band Fest

On March 15, Wayland High School hosted Band Fest for all Wayland Public School’s band groups. The bands present included the WHS Concert Band & Honors Wind Ensemble and fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands. Each band played one individual song before coming together for a collective song.
The performance started off with the fourth and fifth grade elementary school bands performing “Andante from Surprise Symphony” by Franz Joseph, arr. Timothy Johnson, Haydn and “Dance Celebration” by Robert W. Smith respectively. Then, the display continued on to the sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands’ performances of “Champion Fanfare,” by David Samuel, “The Big Manbo” by Timothy Loest and “Skygazer Fanfare” by Randall Standridge. The WHS Concert Band & Honors Wind Ensemble was the final group to perform. The played “Black Panther: Soundtrack highlights” by Ludwig Goransson, arr. Brown. Lastly, all bands came together and played “Above and Beyond,” by James Swearingen.
