Summer coming to an end can seem bittersweet. To me, the end of summer means the end of stress-free beach days and sunny weather, but it also marks the start of a new beginning. A new school year means new school supplies, new classes and new teachers. But, in my opinion, the best thing is that a new school year offers is a new wardrobe. When shopping for new items, here are some things that I absolutely think you should get for the new school year.

Hoodies and sweatshirts

Hoodies are a necessity for the school year. On the days when you feel lazy and don’t want to put thought into an outfit, hoodies will be your best friend. Brands like Aritzia and White Fox have high-quality hoodies that will last you a long time. For more affordable choices, brands like H&M and Amazon don’t disappoint. Hoodies aren’t the only comfortable option though, as there are several different styles of sweatshirts and zip ups that work just as well. Whatever you choose, I guarantee it will be an item of clothing that you will want to wear everyday.

Sweatpants

Going along with the laid-back theme, sweatpants are essential for your closet. Waking up on a cold winter morning with no sun outside, I immediately turn to sweatpants. Sweatpants are warm, cozy and perfect for a long school day. The most popular styles are joggers and wide leg sweatpants. Brandy Melville has a wide selection of high quality sweatpants, and my favorite pair of sweatpants are their Anastasia sweatpants. Even though Brandy has amazing sweatpants, you can find them from any clothing store, and once you find a pair you love, it’ll become a staple in your wardrobe.

A pair of pants you love

Every new school year requires at least one pair of pants that you absolutely love. Whether that be cargo pants or flare jeans, pants are always a good staple to have. Once you find this perfect pair of pants, you’ll be able to wear it with many different tops and in many different ways. The jeans that fit me the best are from American Eagle. Online stores like Edikted also have really cute and trendy options. Edikted is known for its trendy styles, with Gen-Z being their largest audience, and the brand is often talked about on Tiktok.

Everyday shoes

High-quality everyday shoes are pivotal for comfort during the school year. There are so many contrasting styles of shoes and sneakers that come in hundreds of different colors. For a new school year, I usually get a new pair of white sneakers, since my old ones can be dirty from the previous year. I like white sneakers because they’re plain and go with every outfit. Other than that, Converse and Uggs, which tend to be popular during the fall, are very cute and comfortable.

Basic tops

Everyone needs at least a few basic tops. These tops are the best for the school year, as they’re comfortable, cute and easily styled. I love getting my basics from Brandy Melville. Brandy has high-quality basic tank tops, baby tees and long sleeves. Another brand that has amazing quality basics is Kim Kardashian’s company, Skims. Many of their site’s bestsellers went viral on Tik Tok and can be worn several different ways. I guarantee that the basic tops you add to your wardrobe will be items that you reach for on the daily.
