On Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27, sophomores will take the English Language Arts (ELA) Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) exam. Testing will occur during the first three blocks of each day in specific locations determined alphabetically by last names. These assigned locations will be emailed to students before the testing days.

Students who do not finish testing within the allocated time will be given until the end of the school day to complete their exam in the lecture hall. Their proctor will walk them to the lecture hall.

Due to MCAS testing, schedules have been adjusted. On Tuesday, which is an E day, there will be no advisory and classes will be run in a different order: six, seven, three, five, one and two.

In a memo sent to sophomore students and families, WHS principal Allyson Mizoguchi reminds students to charge their laptops the night before, as well as bring a charger to school. Since students cannot leave their testing location before the end of their session, Mizoguchi also recommends that students bring a book with them.

“While we acknowledge the potential added stress of a lengthy, high-stakes exam, we are proud that our students are well-prepared and diligent as they demonstrate their ELA skills,” Mizoguchi wrote.
