While this thought process might sound like a grim dystopian narrative, it is the reality for schools across the U.S., with 83 isolated school shootings in 2024 alone. “Unfortunately, that's the way of the world, and that's part of life right now,” wellness director and former safety coordinator Scott Parseghian said. “We got into teaching to protect the kids and to help them grow.”
