The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), based in Topeka, Kansas, is known for protesting military funerals and for a vocal anti-gay, anti-Jewish and anti-Islamic agenda. The group came to Wayland on Friday December 3 to protest at the Islamic Center of Boston.
Students and community members used the WBC protest to raise money for the Unity International AIDS Foundation, the Islamic Center of Boston, and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth Group Network of Massachusetts — groups and causes the WBC opposes.
