Boys’ hockey defeats Cambridge in North quarter finals (23 photos)

The Wayland Warriors boys’ hockey team beat the third-seeded Cambridge Rindge & Latin Falcons on Sunday, March 4 at the Ryan Arena in Watertown. Wayland came out on top with a 5-2 score. After a 0-0 first period, senior Michael Jones scored Wayland’s first goal in the second period. Cambridge quickly struck back, making the score 1-1 heading into the third period. Junior Jack Crowley and sophomore Aiden Chitkara scored back-to-back goals, bringing Wayland up 3-1 late in the third period. Cambridge netted a goal, putting some pressure on the Warriors with under three minutes left in the game.With under two minutes remaining in the game, Cambridge pulled their goalie. Jones and senior Riley Bonner each scored on an empty net to make the final score 5-2. The Warriors will take on the second seeded St. Joseph’s Prep/Marian on Thursday, March 8 at 6:15 p.m. at the Chelmsford Forum in the MIAA Division III North Semi-Final.
