The Class of 2019 graduated on June 2. Speakers included Senior President Rose Kiefer, valedictorian Matt Karle, co-salutatorians Clarissa Briasco-Stewart and Daniel Nee, Senior Treasurer Nathan Zhao, METCO representative Nia Simpson, School Committee Vice Chair Ellen Grieco, Principal Allyson Mizoguchi and WPS Superintendent Arthur Unobskey. The band played a special commissioned piece of music called “Scattering Leaves by the Clocktower” by Emmy Award winning composer Roger Cichy.  The WPSF funded this piece, which was written specifically for the 2019 WHS Graduation.  “The inspiration behind the piece was that I wanted to create a new exciting piece of graduation music to celebrate our students accomplishments,” band director Joseph Oneschuk said. “The work is a metaphor for leaves falling off a tree and how some travel great distances and some stay close.” The ceremony was held at 3 p.m. and was located on the turf.
