Fall sports playoff update

As the playoff season progresses, the qualifying fall teams prepare for their games. The season came to close for both the field hockey and girls volleyball teams when they lost their playoff games this past week.

The field hockey team won 2-1 in their first round game against Wakefield, with goals from seniors Aiden Chitkara and Arden Knapp. The team then lost their quarterfinal game against Watertown 0-1 in overtime. 

The girls volleyball team fell 0-3 to Bedford in their preliminary round, finishing off their season.

While these teams have finished their seasons, the boys and girls soccer teams and the football team are still in the running, and have their work cut out for them preparing for their next playoff game.

The boys soccer team played against Pentucket this past Monday in their first round game. They were able to pull off a 2-1 win with goals scored from junior Zach Campana and senior Kyle Mabe. They are now scheduled to play in their quarterfinal game against Newburyport this Wednesday at 5 p.m. If they win, they will advance to the North semifinals scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11.

The girls soccer team finished with a 3-0 win this past Tuesday against O’Bryant with goals scored from senior Kayla Poulsen, junior Ellie Tyska and sophomore Emily Staiti. They will face Austin Prep this Thursday at 6 p.m. in their quarterfinal playoff game. If they win, they will advance to the North semifinals scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The football team played in their quarter final playoff game against Wakefield this past Saturday at Weston High School. With four touchdowns, they defeated Wakefield 27-14. This Friday, the team is scheduled to play in the semifinal game against Revere at Revere High School at 6:30 p.m.
