Sports Brief: Boys basketball takes home Central Division II Championship for first time since 1991

After defeating Hopkinton in the Central Division II finals this past Saturday, the boys basketball team will continue to advance to the State playoffs competing against the top Division II teams.

After defeating Hopkinton in the Central Division II finals this past Saturday, the boys basketball team will continue to advance to the State playoffs competing against the top Division II teams.

The boys varsity basketball became division champions for the first time since 1991 this Saturday with its most recent win against Hopkinton. The team will advance to the State Division II playoffs where they will face the Taconic Braves from Taconic High School, the winners of the West bracket. On Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m., the team will play in the state semifinal at Western New England University.

Central Division II Playoffs:

Quarterfinals: vs. Groton Dunstable on Feb. 28
Final score: 63-60

Semifinals: vs. Nashoba on March 4
Final score: 59-52

Finals: vs. Hopkinton on March 7
Final score: 61-49

State Division II Playoffs:

Semifinals: vs. Taconic (Winner of West Bracket)
7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at Western New England University
