On Saturday, June 27, Wayland High School senior Shawn Bernier will speak in front of the METCO class of 2020 during their virtual graduation ceremony. Bernier is the Student Keynote speaker and will talk about his experiences with the METCO program at Wayland High School.

The Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity program, METCO, allows students from Boston and Springfield to get transportation to and from schools in the suburbs daily to get their education.

Along with Bernier, other notable speakers include Governor Charlie Baker, Commissioner of Elementary & Secondary Education Jeffrey Riley and Mayor Martin Walsh.

“In honor of the graduating seniors, I shed light on the impact of unveiling oneself during uncertain times,” Bernier said. “I highlight moments in my life when attending Wayland High School that were challenging but made me who I am today. I don’t want to say too much, but I made sure to include something motivating for the 2020 graduates for always using resiliency as our anchor for success.”
