Wayland High School covers Inauguration Day

Students and faculty members watched the presidential inauguration in school on Wednesday, Jan. 20. This year’s transfer of power was far different than any presidential inauguration America has seen, due to the pandemic. Kamala Harris made history when she was sworn into office as the first woman and first Black and South Asian person to be vice president, with President Joe Biden at her side.

During the inauguration, language department head, Nicole Haghdoust, plays the Spanish-translated version for her honors Spanish two class. The students did their best to stay engaged despite the language barrier. “I was trying my best to understand the Spanish translation because it was spoken over the English,” sophomore Katie Schouten said. “I didn’t catch much, but it was interesting to watch."
