RAD: Teaching girls to protect themselves

Emily Staiti and Lauren Medeiros

Every year, juniors at Wayland High School take a RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) program to learn important ways to defend themselves in dangerous situations. Teachers give real-life scenarios where students have a discussion and practice defending themselves with various moves. So far this year the girls have learned a variety of punches, kicks and ways of blocking themselves.
