Senior Andry Nasief eliminates senior Graham Schwendt outside of the WHS commons. Senior Assassin has been a tradition for over a decade. During the spring the graduating class of WHS participates in a competitive and exciting game with their classmates. The game consists of several rounds, involving safety items and water guns.

Gavron has been teaching since 1994, and took on the position of head coach for the WHS boys varsity soccer team in 2008. I want the classroom to be a place where students feel safe and, similarly to the soccer field, I want them to feel like they can take risks,” Gavron said.

During the annual Wayland-Weston Thanksgiving Day football game on Nov. 23, junior captain and running back Max Dresens broke the single season rushing record with 1,762 yards. Dresens broke the 21-year-old record, which was previously held by Class of 2003 graduate Brandon Anderson.

On Thursday, Nov. 23, Thanksgiving morning, the Wayland High School Warriors (7-3) will take on Weston High School’s Wildcats (3-6) at 10 a.m. on Wayland High School’s turf. “Coach has been motivating us about this big rivalry game and we really want to show all the work we have been putting in during this [game],” sophomore cornerback Braylen Jenkins said. “Our whole team has been putting in a lot of work and we hope it translates to this big rivalry game so we can get a win for the seniors and our town.”

On Sunday, Oct. 1, the Eliza J. Norton Foundation organized a community celebration on the Cochituate Ball Fields to honor Eliza’s life. “I want everyone to remember her joy, how much she loved being around other people and how much she liked bringing people together,” Co-Chair Julie Norton said. “We just want to continue that legacy for everyone else here in Wayland.”
