The Wayland varsity field hockey team beat South High Community on Thursday, Nov. 2 with a final score of 2-0. The game was a preliminary game in the MIAA Division II tournament, where Wayland was the No. 31 seed and South High was the No. 34 seed. On Friday, Nov. 3, the team travelled to Norwood, the No. 2 seed, for the playoff round of 32, where they lost 0-9.

Field hockey secures a final win against South High Community

Captain senior Hayley Shaw drives the ball down the field. "The team's bond has been really good compared to other years because of the unity of our two teams," Shaw said. "It feels like we're one big family instead of the usual separation between junior varsity and varsity. We’ve also had a lot of team bonding, like our weekly team dinners and a team sleepover to wrap up the season."
