Scrambled: Snack mix

This weeks on Scrambled, Anna talks about her favorite snack mix.

Hello Scrambled readers! If you’ve ever gotten tired of eating the same thing over and over again as a snack, then you’ve come to the right place. This week I am going to share a recipe with you that’s been in my family for many, many years.

When my mom was a kid, my grandmother used to make this fun variation of Chex Mix for their family all the time. It takes very little time to prepare at all, and can be eaten in all different settings: snack for after sports, snack for school, appetizers before dinner or when you’re just looking for something a little salty.

Nanny’s Snack Mix

¾ butter
½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
½ package powdered Ranch House dressing
8 cups (1 16 oz box) Quaker Oat Squares
1 ½ cups pretzels
1 ½ cups peanuts

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, melt the butter in the oven in a large roasting pan. Add the cheese and dry Ranch dressing. Stir in the cereal, pretzels and peanuts. Finally, bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring every five minutes.

If you’re looking to mix it up, feel free to substitute Life or Chex cereals for the Oat Squares.

Enjoy!
