WSPN, the official school newspaper of WHS, won a prestigious Pacemaker award while attending the JEA/NSPA convention in San Francisco last month. The Pacemakers are an award given to school newspapers that demonstrate excellence in journalism. This was WSPN’s first time winning a Pacemaker since 2013. WSPN also came in sixth in the “Best of Show” category for schools with a population under 1,500. Sophomore Kevin Wang, WSPN’s news editor, won an award for excellence in news writing, and senior Evan Curtin won an honorable mention for portrait photography.
