In the latest installment of her biweekly column, “Chat with Cat,” WSPN’s Caterina Tomassini discusses a pet peeve.

Caterina Tomassini

I have to say, it really gets under my skin when people interrupt me in the middle of my sentence. I’m not talking about small commentary here and there to show interest in the topic – I’m talking about when someone is in the middle of a story and the other person blatantly cuts them off to tell their story.

I mean, come on, people. Don’t rain on somebody’s parade.

For those of us who need it, let me give you a little lesson on how to maintain a proper conversation:

Person A: This weekend I went to a party and I met a really great guy.

Person B: Wow, that’s great! Did you get his number?

Person A: Yeah, I actually did. We made plans and we’re going to see a movie this weekend.

Person B: That should be fun; I can’t wait to hear about it!

See how that flowed so smoothly? No interruptions and no feelings hurt. Take notes.

And yes, a high school columnist really did just give you life advice.

Sad.
