The South Shore’s local newspaper, The Patriot Ledger, recognizes many Massachusetts student athletes who have shown outstanding skills. In doing so, the newspaper features a “Player of the Week” and usually chooses three local high school athletes who could be voted for this honor. In this week’s voting, senior girls varsity soccer player and captain Kayla Poulsen has been chosen as one of the candidates.

Alongside her, junior Heather Scheid from Medway and senior Sydney Dewhurst from East Bridgewater have also been nominated for the voting. All players were recognized for their success in their regular season as well as their recent playoff games. For Poulsen, the site complimented her for her performance against Austin Prep in the quarter final round of playoffs, scoring two of the three goals leading the team into the semi finals.

The voting closes on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10:00pm. Until then, Poulsen hopes that both the Wayland and soccer community will help support her in becoming the first Wayland girls soccer player of the week. To vote, you can click here.
