![Earlier this month, WHS students auditioned for the highly selective Eastern Senior Districts ensembles. These ensembles allow high school students to improve their own musical ability and to play with other accomplished musicians as well. I really like watching the district rehearsals, WHS band director Joe Oneschuk said. You get to see the whole creative process happen. The [auditions include] strangers coming together who have never played with each other before, [and it] goes from a kind of rough first take to a really beautiful finished product.](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/H6MHFZCky83Q3K4Rn46b08j223aRJK7VgA8CxMm9-1200x800.jpg)

![Wayland High School Theater Ensemble (WHSTE) will perform their annual fall play, “SpongeBob Musical,” on Nov. 16, Nov. 17 and Nov. 18. It’s going to be an incredibly entertaining musical, WHSTE director Aidan OHara said. It was on Broadway five or six years ago and its unique [because] each song is written by a different music performer. Theres [songs] by Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Panic at the Disco!, the Plain White Ts, Lady Antebellum– all of these pop stars contributed a song and it took shape as a Broadway show that is fun for adults and kids. It has all of the different kinds of humor.](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/wtRaTVmlGYBYOLazYKZToWyqXQZIVWI9LPr2j3ll.png)
