Warrior Weekly: Sunday Club

(Credit: Evan Barber/WSPN)

After beating Weston 2-0 on Saturday night, we were given Sunday off from practice. Immediately, I knew that I needed to finish my homework early Sunday morning and finish up all my other weekend to-do’s, so I could go to Sunday Club.

Sunday Club is when members of my fantasy football league gather to watch all the games together. Usually only two games are on at a time, but NFL RedZone may be the best thing to ever happen to Sundays.

RedZone covers every, and I mean every, scoring play across the NFL. It is the perfect way to check in on all your fantasy players. Of course, Sunday Club is driven by fantasy football and is full of trash talking, making fun of each other and constantly checking the ESPN scoreboard.

Now this fantasy season hasn’t been a good one for me, and I can make all the excuses I want, blah, blah, blah; I wouldn’t want to hear it either, but I cannot catch one break this year. It might be one of the most frustrating experiences in my life.

I “negotiated” a trade for Darren Mcfadden, and what does he do this week? He gets two carries and then is done for the game with a foot injury. C’mon man! Anyway, there will be more to come in my Dog House.

Today at Sunday Club, we had two TVs going. One was always on RedZone and the other on a game. It might have been one of the best things I’ve ever seen, although it was very tiring. Believe it or not, trying to keep up with NFL RedZone takes a lot of focus. When I get home from Sunday Club meetings, I have a feeling equivalent to the feeling I have when I come home from school; it takes that much concentration.

Nevertheless (great transition word, huh?), I love Sunday Club. I wouldn’t trade anything for it, except maybe a winning record, but that might get vetoed.

The Dog House:

I honestly believe that this may be one of the weakest fantasy weeks in a long time. If your name isn’t Arian Foster or DeMarco Murray, chances are you had a rough week, so there are a lot of players in the house this week. Here are a few:

Chris Johnson: Dude, start playing like that contract you held out for in the offseason. You know what? Actually, maybe, just try. You never know–  that 4.2 speed of yours might come in handy.

Arian Foster: You’re good, we know, but 40 points? Tone it down. Maybe go for some consistency this time; don’t blow it all on one game.

Matthew Stafford: My golden child earlier in the season is starting to lose sight of his mechanics. He and his Lions buddies need to start winning again.

Chiefs defense: The Chiefs D should never have over 20 points, even when they are playing the Raiders with Kyle Boller at QB and no Mcfadden.

Here’s a quick check-in with the Warrior teams:

Boys Soccer: We went 1-0-1 this week and are one point away from qualifying for the state playoffs.

Girls Soccer: After a 0-0 draw with AB, the girls fell to Weston 1-0 on Friday.

Girls Volleyball: Their hard worked paid off as they beat South Lancaster this week, but then they fell to Archbishop Williams. What’s up with that schedule?

Boys Football: Fell to DCL Large opponent, Westford 38-19.

Field Hockey: Tied Westford 2-2 and got rained out Wednesday against Waltham.

As always, check Warrior Scores for the latest scores from Warrior nation.

Andrew, you are a good sports writer, but your article was much better when it was actually about the whs sports teams.
