The Local: Restaurant Review

Pictured above is a meal at The Local, Wayland's newest restaurant in the town center. WSPN's Harry Falber and Will Sharton give their feedback on the restaurant.
Wayland’s newest restaurant, The Local, opened in the town center on Monday, September 23. We decided to have dinner at The Local to check out the scene.

As we walked in, we were greeted by three hosts, all of whom were WHS students. This added to the community feel the restaurant offers.

The seating in the restaurant was well organized. Each table had a view of the giant TVs that are located in the middle of the room.

Once we were seated, the service was excellent. Our server came over and welcomed us as soon as we sat down. The menu was just as impressive. There were so many good options that it was hard for us to decide what to order.

We ordered two different salads as well as an appetizer of buffalo wings. All three were fantastic and came quickly.

For our main course, we both ordered hamburgers with a fried egg on top. Our host recommended this plate as the best item on the menu. The burger did not disappoint; it was perfectly cooked. On the side were deliciously salted french fries that were the perfect blend between crunchy and soft. There wasn’t a single thing wrong with the food.

The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was great too. Along with the TVs, there was music playing in the background that gave the restaurant a very comfortable mood.

The Local has the feel of an upscale restaurant, with a hint of a bar atmosphere. This is something that is new to the Wayland community and should be appreciated.

One downside to The Local is the price. Our bill for two people came out to $61, indicating that The Local isn’t a good place to hang out with friends unless you have a large wallet.

Overall, we give The Local a score of 4.9/5. The only issue was the price of the food.

The Local is located at 400 Boston Post Rd, inside the new town center.
