Warrior’s playoff hopes crushed by Concord-Carlisle

Last Friday, the Warriors suffered a loss to the DCL-small undefeated Concord Carlisle. In a defensive struggle the Warriors lost 49-31, with four offensive turnovers and over 200 yards given up on the ground. The Warriors defense has been spotty against the run all season.

In a strategic move, Coach P introduced the 30-stack defense that Wayland used to win the Superbowl back in 2007. As a result, Wayland gave up six rushing touchdowns. “No team should be able to score 49 points,” said Coach P. “At the same time, our offense turned the ball over four times and our special teams did not take advantage of key moments in the game.”

A win against CC was vital to keep Wayland in contention for the playoffs. By winning against CC, Bedford, and Weston, Wayland could have advanced into the playoffs. With the loss to Concord-Carlisle, Wayland is now out of playoff contention.

However, the Warrior’s season is far from over. Wayland still has two games left against Bedford and Weston. “Oh the season’s not over. We are going for a winning record.” This will be a tough task as they play the DCL-small undefeated Bedford team this Friday at 6:30pm in Bedford. Wayland’s varsity running back Manwon Brisbane told WSPN, “We’re going to keep going, no matter what tonight or any other night.”
