Warrior Weekly: First full week

This week, Harry discusses last week's happenings in sports as well as the Patriots and Red Sox.

So far, it’s been a successful start for WHS winter sports. All the teams have begun their seasons except boys basketball with a home game against Westford Academy.

Girls basketball already matched their win total from last year, and they’ve only played three games. This week, they will hopefully be able to surpass last year’s record with games against Maynard and Newton South.

Boys hockey comes in at 1-1. In their first game against Shawsheen Valley Tech, their offense was fantastic, scoring six goals, but they couldn’t bring the momentum to their next game, getting shut out by Newton South 1-0.

Swimming continues to dominate the pool. Through the first three meets, the boys and girls are a combined 6-0.

Girls hockey lost their opener against Billerica but are looking to bounce back this week against Tewksbury and Concord-Carlisle.

Last night’s Patriots game against the 49ers is considered a Super Bowl Preview, but I disagree. I said in this blog at the beginning of the season that the Bears would win the Super Bowl. I feel obligated to stick with that pick. The Bears beat the Broncos in New Orleans in February.

The Red Sox really seem to like the number 13. This offseason they have given out four contracts worth $13 million a year. Why?

Since this will be my last blog before Christmas break, I want to wish everyone a Happy Festivus. If you don’t know what that is, shame on you, but watch this video to learn about the greatest holiday of all time.
