Over the course of the last couple of weeks, Wayland High School language students took the AAPPL test. If they scored above a certain standard, they were awarded the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy. “I chose to take the AAPPL because I know some of my colleges will take the Seal as language credit,” senior Ciaran Murphy said.

When did you become interested in art?
I have been interested in art for my whole life. I think I’m kind of an artistic person. I got into this one particular drawing style, anime, about two years ago.

What is your favorite medium to work with?
I like using regular mechanical pencils, Micron pens and Crayola color pencils.

How did you come up with the ideas for your characters?
I was inspired by other anime characters in various media. I just came up with it because I have such a wild and strange imagination.

How did you become interested in anime?
About two years ago, a friend showed me a couple episodes of Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club and then it just went on from there and took off to other series. I have loved it ever since.

Do you want to pursue art as a career in the future?
Definitely. I guess visual arts would be nice. I’m also interested in literature arts and I’m interested in writing, film and acting among other things. It would be interesting to try and pursue all of this.
