Ask Vilma: A sticky situation

I like this guy in my grade, and we’re kinda buddy-buddy type. my friend also REALLY likes him (she doesnt know I do too), but i dont want to hurt her feelings. i think he kinda likes me a little back though. What should I do?

In these kind of situations, the key is to not take any major action without talking to your friend first. If you think she won’t take the news too hard, tell her you have feelings for this same guy. She will be angry at you but hopefully you can move past that. Sometimes you have to just follow your heart and take the consequences later. To try to get out of the ‘friend zone’ with this guy all you have to do is start flirting more and more with him each day. Pretty soon he will be flirting with you too and then he will make the first move. Don’t forget about your friend though. If she is still angry at you try to patch things up with her. Try to think about how she is feeling.
