Ask Vilma: How to pop the (prom) question

What is the best way to ask a girl to prom? I want to do something special…

You are right to try to do something special when asking a girl to prom, good sir. As well as making the girl feel even better when she gets asked, it increases your chances of her saying yes. Boys in the past have given girls cakes with ‘Prom?’ written in frosting, but that has been done before and is played out.

I think your best bet would be borrowing a horse from your horse-owning neighbor and riding to your prospective prom date’s house. You should be wearing a flowing white shirt and a hat with a feather in it. Make sure you do some recon before hand so you know where her room is. Take a few small pebbles and toss them gently one at a time at her window.

She will open her window with nothing but her nightgown on. You might want to hire a few friends to hide in the bushes and point flash lights at you so she can see who it is. She will express surprise at your arrival with an “oh, my!” and a smile. This is when you start reciting your well-rehearsed ‘will-you-go-to-prom-with-me’ poem. The poem should probably go something like this: ‘Everyday I see you walking down the hall. Your body is more curvaceous than the country of Nepal. You smell better than a cinnamon tree. Will you go to prom with me?’

Obviously that is just a template and you should add your own taste to it. Once you finish and she says yes, have your friends start spinning the flashlights in a circle. Make your horse stand up on its hind legs and then ride into the darkness. In my opinion this is the best way you can ask a girl to prom.
