![The class of 2019 gathers to take a class picture at the progressive dinner. The progressive dinner is one of the many events the seniors get to partake in during their last year at Wayland. History teacher Mr. Gavron believes that there is a sudden drop in effort among the senior class. “There are some students who cut back on doing homework [altogether] or doing homework in a timely manner. They will [either] pass it in late, or not do it at all,” Gavron said.](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Ay49NG9Egl7Eh1JWazKpNADXCBvQyBl7CSiCbpYR.jpg)

![Students from all grades taking many languages took part in the original Latin Club. The club was very popular, and in 1983, boasted 115 members. “The Latin Club, under the direction of [founder Frank] Smith, is easily one of the oldest and most popular clubs at WHS,” the WHS Reflector yearbook wrote in 1983. “For over 20 years, club members have sponsored dances, banquets, dramatic productions and other activities revolving around classical and especially Roman Themes. This year’s club ran a very profitable late summer car wash, sponsored it 22nd annual initiation ceremony, the Saturnalian Banquet, an evening of dramatic readings, a Medieval Pilgrimage and a Greek Tragedy.”](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Screen-Shot-2020-01-08-at-9.22.22-AM.png)
