At the recent Wayland Town Meeting, Article 19, which declared the town of Wayland in a climate emergency passed. It is a resolution to declare a climate emergency, Michael Delman said. The planet is warming and the town can now take the next steps under this article to stop this problem.

College freshman Kayla Poulsen and her friends visit Boston on a weekend night out. Because their college Northeastern University is so close to the city, it allowed for fun getaways on the waterfront. When I moved on to campus in September, it had been about five months since lockdown started, so I mostly remember feeling excited to get out of my house and explore a new environment, Poulsen said. Being in the heart of Boston is perfect for visiting restaurants, museums, clothing stores and so much more.

Juniors Jonny Goldin, Jackson Dresens and Ben Chen were named captains for the 2021 boys soccer season. I was really happy for myself and my co-captains, Chen said. We’ve all been working really hard and it’s great to see it all pay off for each other. The boys have already begun planning for the season.

The Wayland girls varsity soccer team has been using an app called “Charity Miles” to track their miles and the girls are competing against other teams in the DCL. On this app, there are more than 50 charities to choose from: World Wildlife Fund, Malala Fund, Leukemia + Lymphoma Society, Special Olympics, and many others, Wong said.

A new trend has emerged among WHS: hair dye. Several WHS students have decided to experiment with temporary hair dye for a fun, short-term change. Junior Emmie OShaugnessey chose to dye her hair pink at home. “My inspiration for dying my hair came as a desire for wanting a change that wasn’t permanent, and I think hair is a good way to express yourself,” O’Shaughnessy said.

History teacher Mr. Gavron believes that there is a sudden drop in effort among the senior class. “There are some students who cut back on doing homework [altogether] or doing homework in a timely manner. They will [either] pass it in late, or not do it at all,” Gavron said.
