Wandering Backpack: Kelsey Pitcairn

Wandering Backpack asks what you would bring if you had 10 minutes to pack a bag with your most treasured items, knowing you wouldn’t be back for years.

“Calvin & Hobbes” anthology, “The Martian Chronicles,” “Don Quijote”: Each of these books has, in its own distinct way, definitively shaped who I am as a person and how I perceive the world. I own at least three copies of each, and couldn’t go anywhere without them.

iPhone: I’m not a huge devotee to most of my gadgets, but I couldn’t make it through a day without something to sing along to. Plus I wouldn’t mind the ability to talk to my parents and brothers and friends.

Florida necklace: A reminder of home and a little bit of sunshine with me always.

Pen: I figure I can write on just about anything, but I wouldn’t be caught dead without a Pentel RSVP .7 mm.

Arsenal jersey: So that I don’t have to waste precious oxygen explaining where my loyalties lie.

Sneakers: For running. Mostly from bears, probably.
