Sports Brief: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Kansas City Chiefs in Superbowl LV

The NFL’s 2020 Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, Feb. 7 at Raymond James Stadium. The NFC champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will take on the AFC champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, at 6:30 p.m.

For the first time in NFL history, a team will be playing in the Super Bowl at their home stadium. The Buccaneers will be able to play at Raymond James Stadium where they have been playing all season long. Because of COVID-19, there will be a limited number of fans allowed in the stadium with the capacity being 22,000. Also, to honor the sacrifices healthcare workers have made over the past year, the NFL has given 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers free tickets to this year’s Super Bowl. That is roughly 34% of the total game day entrants on Super Bowl Sunday.

Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes will be going head to head in one of the most historic Super Bowls yet. Brady, will be playing in his 10th Super Bowl as he looks for his 7th ring which would add to his accomplishment of having the most rings in NFL history. Mahomes is looking for a chance to win two Super Bowls in a row which would make him the youngest to win consecutive Super Bowls at the quarterback position in NFL history.
