Due to PFAS levels in the town water, the school turned off the running water last year and since then has been supplying plastic water bottles. The WHS powderpuff tradition has been under scrutiny by administration. If there were a way for us to make this a fully safe event that celebrated our students and brought our communities together, then the school would sanction it, Principal Allyson Mizoguchi said. We just have not been successful at doing that.

Students sing and dance to a song during their sophomore semi-formal. Every year, the sophomore class gets a semi-formal dance. This is one out of two dances that students have throughout their high school careers. The other dance is prom, which happens every junior year of high school. But what about other dances like homecoming? Why doesn’t Wayland have a homecoming dance?
