School bus accident

A school bus was spotted off the road and tipped over Thursday morning right outside of Happy Hollow elementary school on Pequot road, seemingly going in the middle school direction. The left tires barely scraped the edge of the paved roadway, and the right tires as well as the body of the bus were completely immersed in roadside bushes and trees, at about a sixty degree angle to the road, perched on a downward sloping and bushy region. A policewoman was spreading yellow caution tape closely all around the bus, although since the bus was tipped over and a stark school-bus yellow, it seemed rather redundant. The emergency exit door at the back of the bus was wide open, probably where the driver had made his/her escape.

Some questions you probably have that I can’t answer are: What number school bus was this? Were there children in the school bus at the time of the accident? Who was the driver? If anyone knows further details, please post a comment!

Regardless, after hearing about this, maybe you might consider buckling those nonexistent seat belts when riding your friendly neighborhood bus.

The Happy Hollow principal sent out an email yesterday to all the parents about the accident. The bus was a METCO bus. There were no students on board. The bus swerved off the road while trying to avoid a deer.
