Dear Vilma, which continent is statistically the optimal starting location in Risk, The Game of Global Domination? Please respond with alacrity, I have a big game tonight.
Although I am not familiar with the actual statistics that determine the best starting location, I would say North America should be top priority. North America borders other continents in only 3 places. This way you can stack your troops in only three places to secure your borders. Asia, Europe and Africa are bordered by far too many countries. If you try to dominate one of those three continents at the beginning of your game, you will lose all your troops before you can say “Global Domination.” Australia is too small to be of much significance to you in the long run so you should also ignore that at the beginning. South America is the one other continent you might consider starting with. It is not incredibly small and it has two borders. Those two borders are also the continent’s weakness. If you capture South America, the conquerors of Africa and North America will seal off the borders with an overload of troops. North America is a large continent with the right number of borders.
