![On Tuesday, Nov. 23, the Alliance Club hosted Anonymous Ask, an event in the auditorium where WHS students asked panelists about sex, gender, relationships and many other topics. The event was held entirely in the dark, except for lights on the panelists, to use anonymity as encouragement for students to ask questions that they otherwise may feel too awkward or uncomfortable to ask. "I definitely feel that there’s a big need [for this event],” librarian assistant and co-advisor of Alliance Kassie Wright said. "For one, this school teaches abstinence, which is great and I definitely think is good, but we also have to be realistic and know that there are kids who are going to be practicing sex and this is a way to teach them safe sex, safe gender, safe things about their relationships [and] any type of thing that they may not have known."](https://waylandstudentpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screen-Shot-2021-12-06-at-9.09.28-AM-900x655.png)

![Students from all grades taking many languages took part in the original Latin Club. The club was very popular, and in 1983, boasted 115 members. “The Latin Club, under the direction of [founder Frank] Smith, is easily one of the oldest and most popular clubs at WHS,” the WHS Reflector yearbook wrote in 1983. “For over 20 years, club members have sponsored dances, banquets, dramatic productions and other activities revolving around classical and especially Roman Themes. ![The books a part of the banned books display were wrapped in paper bags to hide their titles until until they were unveiled at the end of September.
