Effective immediately Wayland student athletes will no longer have to wear masks during outdoor practices and home games.

Massachusetts updated the Mask Mandate earlier this week, but each town had to individually vote to stop wearing masks. The Wayland School Committee voted today at noon to accept the guidance.

This will be the first time that athletes will be playing games without masks since the 2019 – 2020 winter season, before the start of COVID-19 restrictions.

Although the mask mandate has been lifted, it is expected that some students will continue to wear masks while engaging in outdoor athletic activities.
