This article was an April Fools joke!
Kelly Clarkson, winner of the first season of the hit reality show, American Idol, will perform at the Wayland High School Class of 2010 graduation ceremony in June. The ceremony will not begin as it usually does, with remarks from school administrators, but instead with Clarkson’s rendition of the national anthem.
After the national anthem, administrators will deliver their speeches. Clarkson will then sing a duet with senior class President and T-Tones director Bobby Dresser. Sources report that they will perform Clarkson’s American Idol finale song, “A Moment Like This”. After the duet, Clarkson will receive an honorary WHS diploma. She will walk, wearing traditional cap and gown, in the graduation procession.
According to Coach Parseghian, Clarkson will not be available for photos or autographs after the ceremony. “Immediately after receiving her honorary diploma, Kelly will be picked up on the freshman soccer field by a helicopter and flown to her next performance in Vermont.” Coach Parseghian explained.

Most seniors are thrilled about Clarkson’s upcoming performance and hope that it will make their graduation into a lifelong memory. Others however, are not as excited.
One of those unenthusiastic seniors, Mitchell Woodcomb, recently expressed his displeasure to the 2010 Executive Board.“I was a HUGE Justin Guarini fan and I voted for him 11 times in the finale,” he said. “I wish he were performing!”
Clarkson refused to comment for this article.
