News Brief: Camera-equipped drone to take pictures of WHS solar panels
November 17, 2016
On Friday, a drone equipped with a camera will take pictures of solar panels located in the WHS parking lots. Principal Allyson Mizoguchi notified the student body through an email on Wednesday morning.
The drone is from Ameresco, Inc., a renewable energy solution provider. According to Wayland’s Energy Initiatives Advisory Committee, the town authorized the company in July of 2015 to construct solar panel canopies above the parking lots of Wayland High School, Wayland Middle School and Wayland Town Building.
The committee projected that these three projects, along with a solar roof system on the Department of Public Works building, would save approximately $150,000 in annual electricity costs.
